Serbia: Researchers Gain Transnational Access via EPPN2020

Serbian News

Several Serbian institutes actively engage in the EPPN2020 for transnational access.

In 2019, the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops, Novi Sad, successfully implemented two transnational access EPPN2020 projects. One of them focused on phenotyping of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and responses to heat stress at different developmental stages, and it was realised in collaboration with AARHUS University, Department of Food Science, Denmark.

The other project utilized the automated phenotyping platform at the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences: Plant Sciences at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany, in examination of water sensitivity of sunflower.

In addition, the Maize Research Institute Zemun Polje submitted a new transnational access EPPN2020 project on exploiting genetic diversity of root and shoot systems for wheat crops improvement in water-limited conditions with the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences: Plant Sciences at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany.

The results of all these projects will contribute significantly to further improvement of the Serbian knowledge and breeding programmes.
