EMPHASIS Newsletter May 2020

Dear all,

Even though most of us have had to work from home over the last two months, EMPHASIS-PREP has made some important progress with more and more activities shifted into the digital space.

Fruitful discussions have taken place with national ministries on strategies for implementing and operating EMPHASIS. Countries that have declared their intention to move EMPHASIS towards operation have formally established the so-called Interim General Assembly (IGA). The IGA acts as main decision-making body on high-level strategic aspects including governance, funding and how to best address user demand.

To compensate for the lack of physical meetings, we have launched a webinar series on plant phenotyping, and last but not least, we are organising a photo competition and are hoping to see many great images representing the whole phenotyping community.

Wishing you good health and hoping to see you online soon,

Discussions with ministries on strategic options for EMPHASIS

During two web-based ministry meetings held in February and April, the newly established Interim General Assembly discussed specific steps for moving EMPHASIS into implementation.

Launch of Phenomics Webinars

To compensate for the cancellation of many scientific conferences and opportunities to discuss latest developments in the field, the plant phenotyping initiativesĀ IPPN, EPPN2020 and EMPHASIS are launching a webinar series on plant phenotyping. We are looking for contributions from researchers from all phenotyping-related fields.
