Governance

EMPHASIS is governed through a collaborative structure that brings together national representatives, advisory bodies, and service providers to ensure effective coordination across Europe.

Interim General Assembly

The Interim General Assembly (IGA) is the main decision-making body, composed of ministry and scientific representatives from participating countries. It sets strategy and policy, approves key plans and budgets, and appoints the Director General, who leads implementation via the Coordination Office.

  • Current IGA Chair: Silvana Moscatelli, National Research Council of Italy
  • Current IGA Vice-Chair: Liselotte De Vos, Flemish Government- Department of Work, Science, Innovation and Social Work

Coordination Office

The Coordination Office consists of the Director-General and supporting staff, tasked with leading and coordinating the smooth operation of EMPHASIS, executing the decisions of the IGA and working closely with the Interim General Assembly and the National Nodes.

National Node

National Nodes are the bodies representing the participating organisations and infrastructures within each EMPHASIS member country. The Node infrastructures act as service providers for access and other activities. The Nodes work in close partnership with the Coordination Office to make facilities, expertise, and data available to researchers and innovators across Europe and beyond.

Advisory Board(s) and Working Groups

Advisory Boards provide expert input on scientific, technical, and strategic matters, while Working Groups are established to address specific topics and offer expert input into matters of strategy and policy.
