Here are the key milestones and achievements that have shaped EMPHASIS’ journey and continue to inspire our efforts to continue to build a stronger, more connected pan-European community.
2022 - 2025
EMPHASIS GO
Implementation Phase
- Our current phase, bringing EMPHASIS towards full operations by establishing the formal legal framework for a long-term, pan-European infrastructure including securing the necessary political and financial support, and fully establishing the National Nodes.
- Funded under the EU H2020 INFRA DEV scheme with 15 partners from 12 countries.


2017 - 2021
EMPHASIS PREP
Preparatory Phase
- Provided the basis for the establishment of the legal framework for a sustainable and innovative pan-European infrastructure for plant phenotyping.
- Comprehensively evaluated the European plant phenotyping landscape and further developed the case for a pan-European research infrastructure.
- Funded under the EU H2020 INFRA DEV call scheme with 7 partners.
2017 - 2020
EPPN 2020
- This phase marked the first efforts to start a European research infrastructure offering transnational access and services focused on plant phenotyping.
- Funded under the EU H2020 INFRA call scheme with 22 partners.


2016
ESFRI Roadmap
- EMPHASIS first joined the ESFRI Roadmap in 2016 as an ESFRI Project.
- This milestone officially recognised the importance of plant phenotyping infrastructure across Europe, paving the way for an exciting future!
2012 - 2015
EPPN
- The drive to unify the phenotyping community began with the establishment of the European Plant Phenotyping Network.
- Funded under the EU FP7 INFRA call scheme with 14 partners.
- Undertook community building and pilot access schemes to inform needs and opportunities in plant phenotyping across Europe.
